Maitland Bridge seniors get support from Government of Canada

MAITLAND BRIDGE, NS -April 24, 2010- Today Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament for West Nova, announced funding for the Maitland Bridge Community Hall Society as part of the Capital Assistance funding stream of the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Mr. Kerr made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, and the Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State (Seniors).
The Maitland Bridge Community Hall Society received $7,855 in funding, which will be used to renovate the roof, repair the dehumidifier, water pump, hot water tank, and the basement window, as well as replace the fridge so that seniors can continue to participate in activities and programs.
“I am happy to be here today to announce our federal support for these renovations,” said Mr. Kerr. “I look forward to seeing these renovations encourage local seniors to continue to take part in community activities.”
“We appreciate the support from MP Kerr and the federal government.” said Roderick Ford, Chairperson of the Maitland Bridge Community Hall Society. “Thanks to this funding, we will be able to do some much needed renovations, consequently allowing our local seniors to continue participating in our programs.”
