Federal funds delivered for seniors in Granville Centre

GRANVILLE CENTRE, NS -April 24, 2010- Today Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament for West Nova, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, and the Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State (Seniors), announced federal funding for the Granville Centre Community Hall Association.

Mr. Kerr highlighted $21,103 in funding for the Association through the Capital Assistance funding stream of the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The funding will be used to install a septic system, repair the washroom, the roof and upgrade the electrical wiring so that seniors can continue to participate in activities and programs.

“This is another example of our Government continuing to support our local seniors,” said Mr. Kerr. “This funding will go a long way towards continuing to engage the seniors of Granville Centre.”

“Thanks to Mr. Kerr for coming out to make this announcement on behalf of the federal government.” said Peter Mansour, Chairperson of the Granville Centre Community Hall Association. “This funding will help us to complete necessary upgrades and renovations so our local seniors can continue partaking in our events and programs.”
