Young’s Cove seniors get federal support

YOUNG’S COVE, NS -April 23, 2010- Greg Kerr, MP for West Nova, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, and the Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State (Seniors), announced funding for the Fundy Community Hall and Recreation Club as part of the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
While in attendance at the Friday night local “jam session” at the Fundy Community Hall, Mr. Kerr highlighted $20,000 in funding for the Club through the Capital Assistance funding stream of the New Horizons for Seniors Program. The funding will be used to renovate the hall, as well as replace equipment in order to allow seniors to continue to participate in activities and programs.
“It is my pleasure to be here this evening to announce federal support for this Club,” said Mr. Kerr. “I am glad our Government is continuing to support our local seniors and I look forward to seeing the results of this funding in the near future.”
“We are pleased to have Mr. Kerr join us tonight to announce this federal funding.” said Valerie Turner, President of the Fundy Community Hall and Recreation Club. “With this support, we will be able to renovate our hall and replace old equipment, allowing our local seniors to continue to come out and be engaged in our community.”
